Okay, well here it is.
This lesson involves the
use of Blade Pro, but is not a necessity.
If you want to download
a working evalutation copy of Blade Pro, click here.
This is the tube we will
create.

Tubes, what are they?
Tubes can be either a series
of images or a single images appearing on a grid. If there is a series
of images, each image is contained within a cell. Each seperate image within
the tube can be different.
I prefer to make singular
tubes, although this doesn't seem to be the general method mentioned in
tutorials on the web.
The advantage of singular
tubes is they can be used for things like web buttons, etc.
Therefore, this tutorial
is for the making of singular tubes.
Let's Begin.
Let's start by opening a
new image in PSP, 200x200, transparent, 16 Million Colors.
Make your foreground colour
white.
Select your text tool and
add a dingbat shape.
Keeping the dingbat selected,
go to Image > Plug in Filters > Flaming Pear > Blade Pro.
Find a preset you like and apply.
Hit Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+V
to paste a new copy, and place your mouse over this new image to determine
the actual size.
Then hit Ctrl+N and create
a new transparent image 10 pixels higher and wider than the pasted image.
With the new transparent
image selected, hit Ctrl+E to paste the image into it. Centre it and
deselect with right click.
Go to File > Export > Picture
Tube.
Because this is only a singular
tube, leave all the settings as they are, only adding in a name for your
new tube. I simply called it butterfly.
That's it. Simple really.
If you don't have Blade
Pro and the Butterfly dingbat, it doesn't matter. You can now turn anything
into a tube using this tutorial.
Adding New Picture Tubes
to PSP.
The easiest way I have found
for adding more tubes, is to first create a folder called temp tubes. I
put this on my desktop.
Then when I find something
I like on the web I just download it into this folder.
To add the new tubes to
PSP is very simple. Open PSP, click on Browse and go to the folder where
you have your new tubes.
Double click the tube you
wish to add so it opens.
Go to File > Export > Picture
Tube.
When your Export window
opens you will need to fill in the fields.
Cells across doesn't mean
the amount of grey squares, but the amount of images.
So if the picture tube has
three images across, then you would add 3 to this field.
The same applies to cells
down.
The placement options I
tend to leave as default.
As for the Tube Name, this
is your decision. Just try to give your new tube a name that suits so you
don't forget what it is!
That's it, happy tubin'
everyone ;) |
