| 1. Open new image. Use settings
165x75, White, 16 Million colors. |
| 2. For this tutorial I have
used my background. Use what you wish. Lighter colors don't do too well
with this effect though. |
| 3. Using the Dropper tool,
select the most dominant color from your background image. I used RGB 90,
90, 90. |
| 4. Select your Text tool.
I used Gloucester, Bold, 48. Make sure Antialias and Floating are selected. |
| 5. Go to Image>Effect>Cutout.
Use the settings: Shadow Color Black, Opacity 100, Blur 4.7, Offset 1x1. |
| 6. Go to Image>Effect>Drop
Shadow. Use the settings: Color White, Opacity 41, Blur 0.8, Offset 1x1. |
| **Hint** As you can see
from the other graphics on my page I have used a lighter color for the
inside of the cutout. This tends to give it a softer look. Also, try playing
with the opacity in the Cutout settings. |
