| 1. Save, save, save. Whenever
you're working on a new graphic, save it often in psp format. Using psp
format means you can save transparency, selection, etc. I created a new
folder on my hard drive, calling it 'new graphics' and save to it all the
time. Once you have finished your image and saved it as gif/jpg you can
then delete the psp if you want! Also this is great for blackout, freezes
and so on. I usually save my image everytime I change it. It makes for
a little bit of work but in the long run it saves a TON of work. |
| 2. To get the best effects
with your drop shadow, try adding it on a new layer. Select your graphic,
contract it by 1, add new layer and then add your drop shadow. Then move
that layer to beneath the graphic and merge. No more jaggy edges! |
| 3. When working with gradients,
to get rid of those ugly lines, try adding Uniform Noise. Keep the setting
below 5. |
| 4. When you start working
on a graphic the default is set to background layer. To make this a new
layer double click on the background button in your Layer toolbox. Then
all the tools will work! |
| 5. If you want to quickly
select an image on a transparent layer, use your selection tool and select
an area around the image. Then using your left mouse button click on your
image. This will select and float the image without any transparency around
it. |
| 6. To save image information
with your image, go to View>Image Information>Creator Information. This
only saves with psp format but it's very handy for color numbers, etc. |
